I still have the material I got back in the 80's from T.C. Fry. I called him back then to put a voice to this radical way of living and he encouraged me to go for it. I went from over 300lbs down to 140lbs and kept it off for almost 10 years. But my diet was a mix of healthy eating & not predominately fruit. I still struggle with my weight to this day but my life is much healthier because of TC. I was sad to learn of his premature death but always believed he was one of Dr. Shelton's torch bearers to the end of the 20th century. When you say 'fruit diet', I assumed you meant sweet fruits only, but of course some people include nuts and vegetables such as tomatoes and peppers as fruit, as, botanically, they are!Debbie Tookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10345367033617524547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1227591395966495076.post-4384093472363778552012-12-10T00:28:17.024-08:002012-12-10T00:28:17.024-08:00Hi Kate

(Please see my articles on B12). Do let me know if anything I've said in any article sounds as if I've advocating a fruit-only diet long-term. Yes, I do KNOW OF people who APPEAR to have done well on a fruit-only diet, but I don't know them very well. I would suggest 'fruit only' for periods of a few weeks only. You mentioned Vetrano - she does supplement for B12 and I'm not sure that I said she was fruit-only. I'm going to read back the article now!Debbie Tookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10345367033617524547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1227591395966495076.post-36727566658363964192012-12-09T23:35:41.665-08:002012-12-09T23:35:41.665-08:00Though I am following Dr. Fuhrman's plan at th...Though I am following Dr. Fuhrman's plan at the moment, I absolutely loved being on the fruit diet in 1989. I felt great and I was down to 98 pounds, and according to one doctor I went to I was the healthiest she had seen me in years.
I mentioned this diet on one of Dr. Fuhrman's posts, and he was not happy, nor were a couple of other people. He mentioned the vitamin B12 issue, so I started to look at up to see what other people thought, including you! When you mentioned the part about lots of other people, such as Vetrano and Keki Sedwa(sp), doing quite well on it, I was thrilled!

I would love to go back on it, but I do not have the discipline. However, anyone who prescribes a 100 percent raw vegan diet without Vitamin B-12 supplementation is irresponsible because the majority of people in the long run (over period of 10 to 20 years) will develop a B-12 deficiency. Which can manifest as heart disease. Some famous vegans--like T.C. Fry, a popular promoter of a raw vegan diet--have died of severe B-12 deficiency. I saw his blood test results near his death.

http://www.rawfoodsnewsmagazine.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=13Leo Keenanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14705284013199100688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1227591395966495076.post-77201714417577090312011-10-08T02:26:34.000-07:002011-10-08T02:26:34.000-07:00quote 'DID T C FRY DIE AT 69 BECAUSE HE WAS FO...quote 'DID T C FRY DIE AT 69 BECAUSE HE WAS FOLLOWING A NATURAL HYGIENE LIFESTYLE?

NO. Fry who had the knack to really make this concept understandable and inviting to a lifetime carnivore. I still have almost all of his newsletters and assorted publications. Sure, some of my subscriptions were not completely honored (publication ceased on more than one)but I never held it against him. I knew he tried hard and over-reached at times.

You know he took time to answer two of my query letters personally with detailed instructions and encouragements. I continue to be grateful to him.

Natural Hygiene will always be part of my life because I have fasted (once for 26 days) and know how good life can be when one follows the path.

I'll never forget the time in 1982 when a complete stranger walked up and apologized to me for staring. I quote him: "I have never seen a healthier looking person in my life." Some compliment, eh?

Again, Debbie, thank you. I think it's time for me to start re-reading some of T.C.'s newsletters again. It's tough following Natural Hygiene in our fast food world but boy it sure is worth it.

Rick Keller, Vancouver, CanadaUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11062957925734431262noreply@blogger.com
