Strong spices, onions, garlic etc all affect your scent (I sometimes eat sprouted fenugreek seeds and I'm amazed by the faint curry odour over the next few days! I kind of like it though lol!)

Also, believe it or not, your emotions affect your scent. Stress causes us to emit nasty odours! There are many factors which should be followed to prevent breast cancer like one should be physically active, reduce intake of alcohol, being vegan is good, vitamin D is helpful, reducing night time shifts etc. For more information on it, refer Breast cancer preventionMedical Informationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00783539604473712663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1227591395966495076.post-43807213168811423682010-02-12T00:16:14.524-08:002010-02-12T00:16:14.524-08:00Hi Daniela

And I suppose another saying comes to mind 'you can lead a horse...'!

To be positive (and you certainly are) all we can do is present people with the information. They may not be receptive now, but they may be tomorrow, or in six months', or six years' time. So it still makes sense for us to plant seeds, even if we don't know how long germination will take!Debbie Tookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10345367033617524547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1227591395966495076.post-67249560741016507272010-02-12T00:01:14.231-08:002010-02-12T00:01:14.231-08:00Hi Debbie,
My husband and I stumbled upon your web...Hi Debbie,
My husband and I stumbled upon your website and blog some time ago, through a forum we're part of. I find your posts very informative and I enjoy reading them. Thanks.
Funny that you should post something on breast cancer. My mum, since december, has now had two surgeries and will start chemotherapy today. I happened to get into hygiene after a severe case of DVT (3 years ago, aged 38) and thus hospitalization. I kept the whole new experience and diet to myself because I knew my family (in Italy) wouldn't have approved. They noticed a difference in me as far as weight is concerned. I've never been overweight, but I went from 53 kg down to 43 kg, so the weight loss was incredibly visible. My mum visited me last June and therefore I was faced with telling her and sharing my experience (which is totally positive). She understood and to my amazement was actually asking questions! At which point (she also suffers from deforming arhtritis) I suggested that maybe she should try moving towards a raw diet. I said to her: "If I was to tell you that on a raw diet you would cure your arthritis, would you do it?" and she said "I'm not sure", which really means NO! Then, last week I read your article and I thought of sharing the "cheese", dairy aspect of it. I told my dad that on the news famous researches found out that... (if I mention doctors they will stop and listen) etc, etc,... and my dad said that for all the cheese that my mum eats, there's no way that could have an impact on her. The interesting thing about their journey is that the surgeons and doctors keep telling my mum that it's very important to keep a positive attitude towards surgery and now, the chemo, because they claim that a positive attitude helps you get better, it's the key to recovery. So, as you can see, I have been talking to deaf ears. They're in their 60s, they were brought up to view doctors, and any form of authority/title, as the people who hold the truth and that's the route they're following. I will keep on this path, as hard as it is because I am a cooked food addict!! and I can only hope for the better for my mum. If, like you say, your article will touch just one person, then you would have done your bit. I also had a friend who died of breast cancer, aged 41, last September. She had changed her diet, she had got better but then went back to her old diet and I'm afraid, drink... and now she's no longer with us, or better, with her own family/children. I will contact you via email at some point since I have a few wuestions to ask. Thanks for your posts. One site I looked at said 1 in 250,000 risk. However, Gabriel Cousens, MD did have this to say about breast cancer and radiation in a recent blog article (gabrielcousens.com) opposing X-rays at airport security:

'A report in the British medical journal Lancet noted that after breast mammograms were introduced in 1983, the incidence of ductal carcinoma (12% of breast cancer) increased by 328%, of which 200% was due to the use of mammography itself. A Lawrence Berkeley National Lab study has demonstrated that breast tissue is extremely susceptible to radiation-induced cancer, confirming warnings by numerous experts that mammograms can initiate the very cancers they may later identify. Dr. Gofman believes that medical radiation is a co-factor in 75% of breast cancer cases.'Debbie Tookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10345367033617524547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1227591395966495076.post-4976548677491101682010-02-05T03:47:28.654-08:002010-02-05T03:47:28.654-08:00yes, it prob seems obvious to rawbies not to use d...yes, it prob seems obvious to rawbies not to use deoderant etc as part of natural living but most 'mainstream' people might not even think about it. That could be quite an omission in the article, I'll do a bit of googling on it to check the latest info on that, and possibly edit the article to include it. I personally reckon that the use of chemical anti-perspirant deoderants, plus the use of tight, underwired bras is a BIG factor as well - makes sense doesn't it, we slap on a load of chemicals under our arms to stop a natural detoxification process (sweating)... hence those toxins are gonna have to go somewhere... hmmm where's the nearest fatty tissue... ? then we keep em there by restricting the whole area with our sexy wonder bras... sigh...Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07765069161540091655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1227591395966495076.post-72761318764755716522010-01-31T23:08:38.738-08:002010-01-31T23:08:38.738-08:00Hi Russ

My experience (and that of others close to me) of surgery is that it's a pretty awful experience! The 'positive outlook' doesn't appear to have wished away disease for them so far. I do agree that it's an important part of healing, and that a person with lots of positive energy is LESS likely to become ill than the average. She is a talented writer who has devoted herself to championing the cause of the working class, especially women. I thought her book, "Nickled and Dimed" was an excellent expose on how we treat those who work in the service industry (mostly women and immigrants) in this country.

The main focus of her ire as I understand it is the New Age movement and the idea that we create our own reality... If we get sick, it's our fault because we "attracted" illness to ourselves through our negative energy. She believes this is false and a downright insult to those who are ill.

I think it is unfortunate that she, like most Americans, think that lifestyle plays a minor role in the creation of disease, and it isn't "worth it" to make major difficult lifestyle change in order to get what they feel is a slim benefit. (She claims to have done everything right... but she eats meat and dairy, drinks alcohol, has smoked, and has used drugs including marijuana. This is what the average American thinks can be part of a healthy lifestyle.)

Also, we have a big taboo against making anyone who is sick responsible. We fruitlessly focus on killing germs or eradicating diseases, rather than telling people that major behavior change is the only thing that works.

Unfortunately, I feel sad for myself that I can posess so much more knowledge, and yet I have yet to complete all of the major behavior changes that I know would prevent disease.

Thanks for the well-written article,

Marjoriegreenmama!https://www.blogger.com/profile/02696773592324306007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1227591395966495076.post-47631912478642573542010-01-31T12:43:59.776-08:002010-01-31T12:43:59.776-08:00Great post Debbie. A subject you touched upon early in the entry crossed my path earlier this am.

I debated the importance of "positive energy" vs diet with a lady friend.

She eats SAD and is content to "wish away" disease with a positive outlook.

I told her although one cannot be complete without a great diet and positive outlook (one should feed the other) I feel the diet's importance supercedes all in priority.

We agreed to disagree.

Frankly - I believe she and her husband are headed down a dangerous path... both smoke, drink, eat SAD.. BUT.. are very happy. Hubby has degenerative disk disorder.. has undergone 6 surgeries and she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few yrs ago...

Some folks are in denial... they want their cake.. and eat it to...

Hopefully they have time to accomplish what they need to on this earth.

Thx for the post.

Russ.RawDadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00138269000257029138noreply@blogger.com
